Clara-Standard systems Rehabilitation project - Omo rate, South Omo
Ever Spark Technologies PLC has successfully completed critical maintenance and installation activities for the Clara Standard Systems in the South Omo Zone of Ethiopia, specifically in the Borkonech and Locheber kebeles of the Omorate Woreda. These efforts, conducted by expert Jibril Hussen, addressed significant challenges including system malfunction, corrosion due to environmental exposure and lack of dedicated operators, and the need for comprehensive rehabilitation after a flood incident. The projects focused on restoring optimal functionality, extending system lifespan, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality treated water to communities, despite ongoing challenges related to site management and material supply
The project encompassed two primary activities: Maintenance of Clara Standard System in Borkonech: This involved a detailed maintenance regimen to address corrosion on the Clara box, battery, production tank, storage tanks, and WATA electrode. A new Ecophi monitoring device was installed, and extensive cleaning with vinegar and rust cleaner was performed. Critical repairs included treating corroded battery wires and repairing the solar control wire. The system, which had been non-functional due to a lack of a dedicated operator and maintenance, was restored to full functionality, passing production, dosage, transferring, concentration, and Ecophi data sending tests. Installation and Rehabilitation of Clara Standard System in Locheber: This project involved the pre-deployment maintenance and preparation of the Clara system at the office, including thorough cleaning and anti-corrosion treatment. On-site installation included site preparation, component verification, strategic placement of the main Clara unit, connection of the main pipeline, and installation of control boxes (main control, solar control, Ecophi unit, dosage pump, and transfer valve). A new battery was installed, and tank connections were established. A comprehensive functionality check confirmed the system's operational integrity. This rehabilitation addressed issues from a previous relocation due to an emergency, which had resulted in broken components and a damaged battery.

- Restored System Functionality: Both Clara Standard Systems are now fully functional
- capable of producing 4 litres of treated water in 3 hours
- Enhanced Durability: Anti-rust treatments and thorough cleaning have significantly mitigated corrosion
- extending the lifespan of the systems.
- Improved Monitoring Capabilities: The installation of new Ecophi monitoring devices ensures accurate monitoring and control of water quality parameters
- guaranteeing adherence to required standards.
- Successful Rehabilitation Post-Flood: The Locheber system was successfully rehabilitated and re-installed after being relocated due to a flood
- with damaged components replaced and a deep cleaning performed.
- Comprehensive Testing: Both systems underwent rigorous testing
- including production
- dosage
- transferring
- and concentration tests
- as well as Ecophi data sending verification
- confirming their optimal performance.
