This is first-ever Clara Plus system installation in the West Hararge region, specifically in Yabdo Gojela kebele. The project was successfully completed through a collaborative effort between the ETHIOPIAN CATHOLIC CHURCH SOCIAL AND DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION HARAR (ECC-SDCOH) and Catholic Relief Services Ethiopia (CRS). The project scope was comprehensive and included several key components: Assembling and Supply: The necessary components of the Clara Plus system were assembled and supplied to the installation site. Installation: The system was expertly installed, ensuring all technical specifications and requirements were met. Training: Comprehensive training was provided to local personnel on the correct operation and maintenance of the system. Clara systems installation - West Gojam - Millenium Water Alliance
This report details the successful installation of five Clara systems in the West Gojam region of Ethiopia between June 1st and June 14th, 2024. Despite facing significant challenges, including security concerns, logistical delays, and insufficient local collaboration, the project achieved its primary objective of installing the systems in the Deber Tabor and Bahir Dar areas. The local community's support was crucial in overcoming obstacles. However, critical gaps in WASHCo involvement, accurate site information, and pump maintenance need to be addressed for the long-term sustainability and effectiveness of these installations.
