Clara systems installation - West Gojam - Millenium Water Alliance

This report details the successful installation of five Clara systems in the West Gojam region of Ethiopia between June 1st and June 14th, 2024. Despite facing significant challenges, including security concerns, logistical delays, and insufficient local collaboration, the project achieved its primary objective of installing the systems in the Deber Tabor and Bahir Dar areas. The local community's support was crucial in overcoming obstacles. However, critical gaps in WASHCo involvement, accurate site information, and pump maintenance need to be addressed for the long-term sustainability and effectiveness of these installations.

Five Clara water systems were installed in West Gojam (Deber Tabor and Bahir Dar areas) in June 2024. The project navigated security issues, inaccurate site data, and weak local WASHCo engagement but ultimately succeeded thanks to community support. Key issues for future success include improving WASHCo understanding and participation and ensuring proper site preparation.
